About NMOTA
The mission of the New Mexico Occupational Therapy Association is to articulate the distinct value of occupational therapy in achieving and maintaining quality of life through occupations that promote recovery, rehabilitation, and health.
The NMOTA is the only professional membership organization for occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants in the state and focused on YOUR practice success in New Mexico. The nonprofit association's activities and Board are powered by just 10 volunteers from a community of over 1300 occupational therapy practitioners -- And that’s no simple task.
NMOTA brings value to it’s members and the public by:
-
Advocating for the modality of occupation to be a core service of the recovery and rehabilitation process for people with health status changes.
-
Advocating for a robust scope of practice for occupational therapy in New Mexico via input to the legislative, regulation, policy, and legal processes impacting practice.
-
Ensuring the public knows about the benefits of occupational therapy to enhance the daily living of people with health challenges (singly, or in groups and communities) through client-centered interventions and treatment activities.
-
Promoting the health and well-being of all New Mexicans through engagement in valued and desired life activities, roles, and routines.
-
Ensuring occupational therapists in New Mexico (urban and rural) have access to high quality continuing education to improve competency in knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to the occupational therapy process.
-
Supporting the success of occupational therapy students in all educational programs across the state through scholarships, opportunities for leadership, and sponsoring student initiatives.
